Oh, I agree wholeheartedly. Much of “modern art” is definitely a joke at everyone else’s expense. I often visit the art galleries in my city, and while some modern art is ok the vast majority is just nonsense.
Jamie north is of the former category. His work is definitely one of the few examples of good modern art, though as I have mentioned in the essay I wonder if it would be accurate to say that it is just an unintentional re-invention of certain Asian art forms based on unusual rocks.
