Thank you for bringing back to the forefront of my mind the memory an experience I hadn’t thought of for many years. I was driving along the Kennedy Space Center Causeway in the late-1980’s, looked out the passenger window, and saw a bald eagle swoop down to my level and pace me at 40 mph for about 150 meters. I just got “chicken skin” thinking about it again. I was the only person to see it, so the memory will die with me. :-(
Well, since he only wrote short stories and essays is works are usually sold as compilations. I first read the compilation “Labyrinths” by Penguin so I would try and get an edition of that, though honestly any compilation you find will do.
In terms of individual short stories, I personally liked “the immortal”, “Tlon, uqbar, orbis tertius”, “The circular ruins”, “the lottery in Babylon” and “The gods script”. I have written some essays about the second and fourth stories as well.
Yes, though my idea is something more general than a theme for meditation. I originally applied it as I went out in the city and imagined what it would be like for me to be the last human to have directly experienced modern industrial civilisation, a kind of “existential tourism”. I also thought it would be a good prompt for imagination-exercises, story-writing and historical essays.

My pleasure.
Out of curiosity, are you a fellow reader of Borges?
Not yet. I think I will start, though. Thank you. Is there a title you would recommend as a starting point?

Thank you. I’ll give that a shot and will probably also pick up this one: https://bookshop.org/p/books/borges-an-introduction-julio-premat/16327324
I appreciate your thoughts.
That's a fascinating theme for meditation you've created from this Borges parable.

I think it would!
